Volunteer Spirit Award – Sam Cunningham

Tiffany Brown (Volunteer Saint John) presenting certificate to Sam Cunningham

Sam Cunningham volunteers with the CNIB and has been instrumental in the creation of a Peer Support program in the Saint John area known as Coffee & Chat. From organizing a location to calling individuals to invite them to participate, Sam was the impetus of change behind the creation of this program. The Coffee & Chat group meets the first Thursday of the month at the Saint John Free Public Library, each Thursday the rest of the month at Market Square and has a very active closed Facebook group page that keeps everyone connected. The group provides a supportive environment for individuals in the Saint John area to come together with their peers, discuss strategies for daily living with sight loss, current events or simply to enjoy a cup of coffee with a new-found friend.

Thank you, Sam, for being a change maker in Saint John and for your commitment to changing what it means to be blind today!
